First Volvo EC55C’s go to Brain Plant Ltd
 

Stratford Upon Avon based Brain Plant Hire is the first company in the UK to take delivery of Volvo Construction Equipment’s latest update to its highly successful 5½ tonne mini digger - the EC55C.
 
Two new EC55C’s have been delivered along with the last available B version model by Volvo’s compact equipment dealer for the Midlands – SM Plant. The machines were purchased for a specific contract being undertaken by the family plant hire and contracting business located on the outskirts of Stratford. “Although we run a mixed fleet of mini diggers, we rate the EC55 model from Volvo very highly in terms of its quality, reliability and smoothness of control” commented Edward Brain, proprietor and founder of his 25 year old business. And his latest acquisitions join a fleet of some 70 items of mobile plant which also includes Volvo EC15’s; EC25’s and EC55B models.

The new EC55C which is newly available in Great Britain features a Volvo 4 cylinder  Tier III compliant engine developing 47 hp. Closed centre load sensing hydraulic systems ensure that each of the machine’s functions can be performed simultaneously thus maximising the available output from the engine with a high degree of fuel efficiency. Automatic two speed tracking ensures a high degree of torque for tricky site conditions and a maximum of 4.5kph for a top speed whilst the operator’s compartment is extremely well proportioned and comfortable providing plenty of leg room even for the tallest operator. Air conditioning is a standard feature on the Volvo product. Important data found on the new EC55C finds a dig depth of just over 4 metres with the 1.9m dipper arm, a reach of 6.39m and a practical load over height of 4.3 metres.
