A new Volvo ECR88 Plus continues a tradition at M & I B Services Ltd

Continuing a tradition of operating Volvo Construction Equipment products, family run business M & I B Services Ltd of Leighton Buzzard has opted for a new ECR88 Plus compact excavator.
 
Specialising in petrol forecourt construction and refurbishments as well as peripheral works for new sports complexes, M & I B Services settled on a new 8.8 tonne ECR88 Plus based on the excellent reliability, performance and economy of the 7 tonne EC70 they had operated since 2002. “We’ve been really pleased with the EC70 but needed the reduced swing capability and slightly more handling capacity of the ECR88 Plus ,” explained managing director Michael Brown. “We’ve been delighted with the machine so far in terms of its flexibility, specification and compactness with the added benefit of being able to load 20 tonne lorries with total ease.”

The Volvo ECR88 Plus is powered by a Volvo 3.4 litre low emission engine producing 57 hp coupled to a load sensing hydraulic system for fast cycle times and smooth control. The machine offers a generous horizontal reach of 7.3 metres and a lift capacity of 960kg at full reach across the carriage. Operator comfort and excellent access to all the service points have added to M & IB Services’ appreciation of the machine, especially Chris, (Michael’s father) who is in sole charge of the controls! The ECR88 Plus has a comfortable, spacious cab with a wide uncluttered floor. The instrument panel provides operators with at-a-glance monitoring of all key functions and operator fatigue is reduced through easy-grip, high response joystick control levers. The rubber-mounted cabs reduce whole-body vibration, and external noise minimizing the rigors of the jobsite whilst air conditioning with well positioned vents is a standard feature.
The new arrival joins M & IB Services’ mixed fleet of machines including a Volvo EC140B and continues an association with Volvo products for the past eight years.
