Manitowoc’s new CraneSTAR telematics-based asset management system won Gold at this year’s Value Chain Awards hosted by M2M Magazine and presented at its annual conference on June 11 in Chicago, IL. The company launched the system in April and it features several notable firsts for the crane industry.
Larry Bryce, executive vice president of Manitowoc Crane Care, said CraneSTAR was a prime example of Manitowoc’s commitment to innovation.
“We constantly strive to bring innovation to the crane industry to help our customers get the most from their cranes,” he said. “This award recognizes our efforts and reinforces Manitowoc’s position as an industry leader and innovator. We have no intention of slowing down. We will continue to aim high, bringing new technologies which will advance our industry. Our focus remains on helping our global customers achieve the most efficient and effective results from their operations.”
CraneSTAR gives users up-to-date operational data on their cranes, which is transmitted to a secure Web server. Users can then access vital information, such as location, working conditions, maintenance plans and security information, from any Web-enabled device at any time. Dozens of crane models from across the Manitowoc product line will be fitted with the system in the coming months. It will be phased into production and be available on cranes from Manitowoc factories in the United States, Germany, France, Italy, India and China.
The M2M Value Chain Awards recognize the most successful corporate adaptors of Machine to Machine, or M2M technology. They are presented each year by M2M Magazine at its Annual Conference.
