Volvo minis are working well at Hire Direct Plant & Tool

Since taking delivery of three ECR48C Volvo compact excavators last October, Mark Evans, Operations Director for Hire Direct Plant and Tool of Ascot Berkshire has been pleased with his purchasing decision.

Although no strangers to Volvo Construction Equipment these are the first compact excavators from Volvo to join Hire Direct’s mini digger fleet of some 85 machines. “We have run the larger EC140’s which we found to be reliable and popular, but I have to say it was the service support we received from Volvo that prompted us to add their mini diggers to our fleet for the first time,” said Mark. “So far the machines have proved reliable and on occasions, when we’ve needed it, we still get very prompt service and quick reaction times from them.”

The ECR48C’s were supplied complete with fully automatic quick hitches, Kosran anti theft devices and hose rupture valves fitted to the boom cylinders. The five tonne machine features a Volvo 4 cylinder engine developing 35 hp. Closed centre load sensing hydraulic systems ensure that each of the machine’s functions can be performed simultaneously thus maximising the available output from the engine with a high degree of fuel efficiency. Being a zero swing machine, the engine is side mounted providing ease of access to all maintenance and servicing points whilst the operator’s compartment is extremely well proportioned and comfortable providing plenty of leg room even for the tallest operator.
