The King and Queen of Sweden were the guests of honour at a lunch held on Saturday 6th June celebrating the 350th anniversary of Eskilstuna, the Swedish town where Volvo Construction Equipment was founded by Theofron Munktell in 1832. The lunch was held at Volvo’s own museum in the city, and King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were joined at the event by local dignitaries as well as Olof Persson, Volvo Construction Equipment’s president.

Eskilstuna, 60 miles west of the Swedish capital Stockholm, has played an important part in the development of the country. “Although Volvo Construction Equipment is now a multi-billion dollar company whose manufacturing plants and employees are spread across the world, Eskilstuna will always retain a special role in forming the culture and identity of the modern company,” says Olof Persson, president and chief executive of Volvo Construction Equipment. “We still have a significant manufacturing presence in the city. We are extremely proud to host this event for the City, and are honoured to have our King and Queen, and many of the good people of Eskilstuna join us in marking this important event.”
